New guy here hoping to get a alembic guitar someday!
« on: July 12, 2011, 09:47:58 PM »
Hey all,
Just thought I'd introduce myself here to this wonderful club of fine musicians, my name is Josh and I just started playing/learning the acoustic guitar and one day would also like to learn other musical interments, but don't have the money yet, anyway about a year ago I have been been wanting to go electric now for some time and have been looking around the web for a really great electric guitars and came across a familiar name; Alembic.

I first heard of Alembic some time back when I found out what that huge sound was, er Rumble in the song Achilles last stand.
When I was browsing a website showing what gear Led Zeppelin used in their recording studio, I found a strange but beautiful bass guitar that John Paul Jones (the Bassist/Arranger of Led Zeppelin) had used to create that sound that I Absolutely love to hear on there latter albums.

So I then found this website, and after looking at all the very nice guitars (and basses) I thought it would be a good idea to make an intro the world of Alembic, but seeing a how I have only four pennies in my budget it might be better to start planing for a guitar rather than buy one outright. I'll bee posting a thread eventually in the Dreaming... for now topic!

Hope to scrounge up LOTTTSSS of money in the future!
-Josh

Welcome Josh, if you have time to browser through the threads you will gain loads of background information on Alembic guitars. I would say that most of the members that contribute regularly here are primarily bass players but there are many guitarists here too so when you do decide to buy an Alembic guitar I'm sure you will get words of wisdom to help you in your choices.

I'm looking forward to reading your Dreaming for now thread.
I know used guitars don't come along for sale as often as basses do but they do come along and that may be a way for you to get your feet wet whilst you formulate the dream that becomes a reality.

Thank for that advice Jazzyvee.
I was thinking that in the mean time, Maybe installing some of those activator pick-ups in say a nice Ibanez or a Parker guitar and experiencing the sound of some magnificence sounding active pick-ups in a non-Amembic guitar for now.

I've actually picked up a Series I four string bass at a guitar shop... and WOAH!!! that was an amazing sound!

I can recommend activators in a non alembic guitar. Here is one I prepared earlier and some links that may inspire your investigations.
