I am an Alembic wannabe owner. I have owned Modulus basses and so many others. I play primarily in a Grateful Dead tribute band....hence the Modulus ownership. I recently purchased a modified Kawai FIIB(bartolini preamp and pickups) and was told while yes it is the poor man's Alembic...it does not even compare to the tone and overall feel when actually playing one. I really dig the Kawai and now have to have an Alembic. I did love the Phil Lesh sound when he used an Alembic. Anyway I will keep you all posted. Thanks,
