Just signed up.  Acquired my Alembic Essence a few months ago and love it.  I previously played Fender Jazz basses although my first one I had upgraded to Alembic activators in the 80s.  I always have questions and I am active on Talk Bass.  Thanks!!

Welcome! I used to play a 74 Blonde Jazz Bass with Activators in it too!

Dear Folks,
Good evening.  Hey yall, I am new to the listserve and worship Alembic guitars and basses.  I have not owned any guitars yet ;(  But I have been blowing on a few Essences over the years, a 94 and a five string fretless from 91.  Greetings! a

What a coincidence.
I also have (had) a Jazz Bass with activators and also an Essence and a Series 1 Fretless.
As others have said pictures are the best.
I replaced the original pickups back in the Jazz Bass to bring it back to standard configuration.
The thing is I never play it! The Essence is my go-to bass now. I am just trying to get my ducks in a row as the Essence is a 5 string. Man that 1 extra string does throw out my left hand technique.

Forgot to post the picture. How can I ask someone to do something that I wont do?
