Just a very quick line to introduce myself, as the title says I tried my first Alembic back in 1980 at at art collage at the time in a band, back then it was so far out of my reach I may have been looking at a Lear Jet. Soon after I bought my first ;proper' bass, a Kramer 450B and it served me well over the years. In time the band split (Yoko Ono effect, lead guitarists girlfriend decided to manage us!). And soon after came the usual boring work, family mortgage stuff. But I never sold the Kramer and a few months ago I exhumed it from its dusty resting place in the spare room, was still in tune ! Put some new strings in it and it all came flooding back Anyhow, long story short bought an amp (Trace Elliot 350w 4x10 combo, same as I had back then, but now costing less than a good practice amp) and starting to annoy the wife and anyone within half a mile (we live in the country so in realty that?s not a lot). One thing led to another and I starting looking around to see if Alembic still existed ? had not seen any in music shops for a very love time here ? and yes, there it was. I even put the address into Google street view to see the factory ? not what I was expecting, very high tech from the outside. Sorry starting to ramble, long story short, saw an immaculate, totally unmarked used Essence for sale in Holland, was late at night, wine was involved and three days later my new baby arrived. I had NO idea how wonderful it was, bear in mind I have been playing a lump of alloy for the last 35 years. This bass is a revelation, even I sound half decent, its a joy to play, action is perfect, tonal range is out of this world and I think it look great (its all maple ). Anyhow, have bored you enough, so hello from across the pone, and thank you.
