Nigel (Thomas) my friend,
I've missed your informative and amusing commentary recently, and now understand why.
I recall scrolling down through these beautiful photos - I especially love the accent laminates on the body and how they match the neck - and suddenly coming upon this rather jarring funeral reference. It just seemed horribly out of place, and I think I have some sense of your reaction.
Now, this is awkward, because the last thing I want to do is defend Keavin. Frankly, I wish he would just 'amp it down' a little, because for about two years now I've been reading everything on this board, I've developed a few offline friendships, and generally found this to be a respectful, mature, thoughtful, warm, and sensitive place to hang out - and to learn a lot.
While I appreciate his enthusiasm, Keavin's signal-to-noise ratio is not the best. Though a bit tiresome at times, I think his heart's in the right place, and I really can't believe he intended any offense - it was probably just some visual association that struck him at the time (perhaps after one of those 12-packs...). I'm pretty sure it was meant as simply a weird observation, and just happened to be in extremely poor taste.
It's also possible you (understandably) over-reacted a bit. All this web/email stuff is really tricky, given the range of vocabularies, writing styles, and even languages involved here. But it's good reminder that it's easy to misinterpret, and we all need to be careful.
Whether you choose to stay or leave, Thomas, thanks for taking the time to explain. Though this is allegedly a moderated discussion, and you have to register, we are in fact a self-moderated group, and I am continually amazed at how well that works, with extremely rare exceptions. I've seen a lot of good people join in over the last year, but the thought of losing some is troubling (speaking of which, where the hell is Joey? I'm getting a bit worried about him, maybe time to check in...).
I'm going to pay heed to this little note I have here that reminds me to 'wait until morning to post', but I needed to say something.
All the best.
-Bob
