My first Alembic and some of her new friends!

I've been part of this Club for almost 4 years but never was "official", at last I have finally become an official member after recently receiving a BEAUTIFUL 1988 Persuader with a Walnut top. This bass is absolutely incredible, it can be crystal clear, super growly, or deep thumping!  Serial # is 88P4929, Walnut top, mahogany body, all maple neck, ebony fingerboard, I'm not sure about the inlays(they kind of look like Black Tahitian M.O.P. to me), and P/J pcikups with V/P/F,  hoping that Alembic can start installing a second pre-amp fairly cheap so I can use the J pickup more effectively without the volume drop.

 and this is my collection of instruments  Left to right: Wishbass #1332 made out of Red Cedar, early 80's Peavey T-60, '88 Alembic Persuader, '82 Gibson Victory Artist(my main bass), '07 Gibson SG Faded, and lastly my '06 Fender 60th Anniversary American Standard Jazz with S-1 switch and Ash body.   Edit: If you look at the neck from different angles and some inlays seem to disappear, they could be Black Tahitian M.O.P (they can almost become one with the Ebony) There's a lot green and pink in them also, they look awesome. I think you can see (or can't ) a few "disappeared" inlays in some of the pictures of my bass.  My other  basses (with inlays) have the plastic markers, some have a dark spot (you can see the glue through them)  (Message edited by fc_spoiler on May 30, 2012)

She's Beautiful! A Persuader was my first Alembic. There is something about them I can't quite explain. She will not disappoint, Rock On my Brother!!

I like the Mahogany body - beautiful there!
 
The inlays are most likely the disappearing plastic variety. They turned almost clear and if the glue didn't reach the edges, you could see that dot through them like Flip describes.

You love the sounds she'll make.  It really amazes me how varied the sounds are between my amp (GK Microbass) and the bass' settings.  The fade between the pickups is really cool.

thanks to all! after looking at the inlays I agree with Mica and Flip about them being fading plastic, but they still look fancy with the dried glue :p
 
so after a having her for about a week I'm still in love! the tone is very growly which is exactly what I love! she fits right in with the stoner rock side project me and my brother are starting(think Queens of the Stone Age's first album) and I see us having a very long and healthy relationship  also a thanks to everyone who has helped further my knowledge on these lovely instruments over the past 4 years! I already know what I want to do if I ever gather the money to get a custom made

About the preamp: I don't think there's a cheap solution other than hoping to find a used signature set, I've upgraded my fretless and it required a different output wire section...
 
On my Fender I did add a trimpot to turn the volume of the P pickup down (I had it made, can't be very helpful on specs, sorry)
Maybe you can discuss this with Mica and come up with a cheaper passive solution?

Very Nice! That walnut is amazing, as is the figure in the mahogany.
