I love that flamed wood.  Is that Koa?

Yes it is Koa with a Koa headstock as well. It's in really good shape with just two small dings. I need to replace the strings and give it a good cleaning. All of the electronics are in working order and minimal fret wear. I am very pleased but the true test will come when played within a band situation in a few days. It pairs nicely with my series 4 string fretless Alembic makes great basses.I wish I could afford to have one built.

So last night was the test with the band. The bass sounded great and cut through the mix like no other. I find it's one of those really warm tone basses. However the neck dive aspect was a little troublesome. Now I usually don't mind a little neck dive. Maybe it's now my age but my arm and shoulder were starting to get tired. Has anyone ever tried to put a strap holder on the back of the headstock? I have never worn a bass like that. I think my 57 re-issue P bass has a peg in that location. Maybe I'll try that out and see what it feels like.

Ken,
A wide strap will help alot.
I had my rear strap button moved slightly to help with balance. If you go here:
http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/41664.html?1329696239
and scroll through the pictures you can see where it was moved 'above' the neck. By far the best thing for my neck dive is a 4 wide strap.

There is also a member here who developed a harness system that balances the bass really well.
