My new used Spoiler
« on: April 15, 2005, 11:44:29 AM »
Howdy, I found this beauty hanging on the wall and had to buy it on the spot.  I was out of work at the time, but I figured that a bass this beautiful only comes along once in a lifetime.  Can anyone help me identify the top wood?  Thanks.  Also if you want to hear what she sounds like go to http://www.mullinsband.com for MP3s of the band.

Looks like quilted maple to me, but it's a small pic.

I thought so too, but it looks slightly different to me.  I'll try to get a bigger picture posted soon.  Thanks for the help.

If you include the serial number here Mica or Val can look up the build information for you. Alembic has kept records for many of the instruments they have built over the years.

That top is so Lacewood! Even so small, it has a distinctive ray fleck pattern. Post the serial number and we'll confirm in the files.

Thanks Mica, I will post the numbers this evening.  After reading your comment, I researched Lacewood and I think that you are correct.  It really looks beautiful and I have never seen another instrument with this type of wood.

Unfortunately, I do not own a digital camera.  You can see the bass a little better in the pictures listed on the website http://www.mullinsband.com  We are playing gigs this weekend, I'll ask someone to get some good pictures and post them when I have a chance.

Yep, that's interesting Lacewood if it is! Wild wide-to-narrow pattern in it. And it's a Vector body Spoiler, too, rare!

Guitar Resurrection had a beautiful Essence in lacewood and I thought someone in the Club snagged it. This link has broken photos, though:

The one in question had really tight lacing, looked like pores! Beautiful.

The Serial Number for this guy is 94S8429 USA.  Any insight into the wood or general info about the bass is much appreciated.
