Custom Spoiler large body
« on: May 31, 2006, 10:35:40 PM »
Hi, here's my spolier bass I bought in Groningen a few months ago. I've been told that this kind of spoiler is not common...the pointbody I mean ;-) I only found one similar bass on this site I'm very pleased with it... It's a very fast bass, almost as fast as my Jaydee Series III, the neck of this alembic is a little wider so it requires a little bit more work. I hope you like it.  Very kind regards from MAastricht, The Netherlands

Hi.
it also happens that I have a very similar type of Spoiler! And also in The Netherlands....
I've always liked the standard pointed body shape (OBS) and the Spoiler electronics (With al it's limitations) is a very nice and most of all easy way to play with! I hope you got a great deal from Ferdinand!

Mpisanek also has a similar Spoiler although his is a six string (with very narrow spacing).
One of these days he'll get round to posting some pics.

I know a guy that has a long-scale, five-string, Series-shaped, Omega-cut SPOILER in see through red . . . . not common.

Bass looks great! How is the balance on it? I hear other cats speak of neck dive when they let go of the neck on some long scale Alembics. I have a MK 5 string with a 35 scale neck and I can let go of the bass and it stays put. Of course I have an extended upper horn on it too. My 5 string Balance K (34 scale) never dives on me either.

Hi, thanks ;-)

A dive...????
Untill now, I never noticed it...I will get beck to you guys later.
I will try it out tonight.
To be hounest, I don't think the bass dives becourse...otherwise I would have noticed it before!

The sound is superb...only the neck, it's a little wide for my taste.
I'm used to a Jaydee neck... they are the most slim and fastes necks I've ever played on!

It's also probably a 32 scale, which is the 'historically correct' scale for the Large Body style.

Nice one!

Hi...I''me back...
Noob, the bass stays at my knee, perfectly in balance ;-)
I guess this is due to the large, more heavy body!
It's a 32 scale bass
