My first 5 string, and she's put up with a lot of foolishness since she came to music school with me that year.

It's Walnut.  Remarkable variation in Walnut, my other basses are Walnut tops but much darker.

I just saw this bass today, it's really a cool piece of wood. Walnut is funny in that it's about the only wood we use that gets lighter over time. Everything else, even Maple, gets darker.
