Yep, love the wood, but that headstock photo is truly special.

Funny, but I must not have had my glasses on the first time I looked at, because I thought it was propped on the edge of a black leather chair or something, with enhanced contrast. (for those of you who still have perfect eyes, try squinting a little, think really soft, supple leather)

Care to say something about how you shot this?

Thank you all for the great compliments! I appreciate them, it really is a great bass and I'm blessed to have it. I just played it at church for worship service and they're all like Can you tone the bass down a bit and I'm like mmmmmm, no. Ahhh, non-bass players, they just don't understand. As for the pictures, I'm a photographer so I had a nice camera to take pictures with, it makes a big difference in the quality of the image. Then I put them in Photoshop and enhance the contrast and play around with the brightness, as most shots usually end up looking more dull than they actually are in real life. The one with the feathers was taken in a studio with (if I can remember right) 2 Calumet 750w flash heads. One with a soft box and the other using a diffuser. Alembics are so beautiful I'd be happy just taking pictures of them : ).
