92' Essence

I just picked this one up off ebay.  After a good cleaning and a setup by someone more competent than I, it is the, hands down, nicest bass I have ever played.

Very Nice!
And what is the green fretless sitting there as well? You can do Stop and Go bass lines.
 Enjoy

The green thing looks a lot like a Zon.

Thanks guys, I am happy to have this bass--I am really quite lucky to own it.

Adriaan is correct, it's a Zon Sonus 4 that I have owned since 1996.  I really love to play it but I go back and forth on the color.  The composite neck gives it very a precise sound with tons of sustain, but lacks the warmth of a traditional tone wood.  It is a good counterpoint to the Essence, very similar in playability (except for weight) but very different in sound.

It was one of the reasons I chose the Essence--the dimensions between the two basses are very close, not much taper, same 34 length and relatively narrow string spacings.  My other fretted bass is a 94 Tobias Growler, which despite being a pleasure to play has a 35 scale and very wide string spacings--so each time I switched between that and my Zon I would have a hard time with intonation--always playing sharp
