Just completed today! The first Vintage Wineburst finish. Going to Steve's Music in Canada.
 

 
02OW12772 has a Bird's-eye Maple top and this lovely clear, amber, burgundy, sheer black burst finish.

It's a Bird's-eye Maple top. and Olivier is right, to appreciate how cool the paint looks there's nothing like a personal visit.

I'd love to, but Canada's a long way from Texas, at least three months by horse-back. Is the darkest color black or a deeper wine, and does the pattern repeat the burst on the back side? Any chance of images of the back laying around? I'm with Olivier, it's gorgeous.

Sadly I don't have a shot of the back, but the burst pattern is repeated on the back of the body, along the edges of the neck and the frot and back of the peghead. Every bursting opportunity is taken!
 
The darkest color is a sheer black. The blends are between the clear and amber, then amber to burgundy and finally burgundy to sheer black. There's a lot of subtle gradations of color.
 
Here's the back of an Excel with the Stormburst finish, to give you an idea of how the burst pattern is on the back and back of the neck. Bob always follows the body contours.

Okay, Mica, you've got me thinking or rather, wishing. I would need to return my bass, would the extra prep time increase the cost?  I can't match the high gloss luster, but I had to try something! Hmmm, I may save this as an option for my next bass, the possibilities are killing me.  Mike

Okay, I couldn't take it. I had to make her mine. She is on her way to her new home: to me!!!
I certainly hope she sounds good. I can hardly wait!!!
