My new Orion 4
« on: July 21, 2005, 04:55:47 PM »
I just received my new Orion 4 Coco Bolo.  Wow...now I see why you guys are addicted.  I forgot just how amazing these instruments are.  I felt like the first time I saw Tom's Ghost Crow.

Some of you may have seen the bass in the showroom.  I'm glad it waited almost a year for me.  :-)

Below are my own crappy attempts at photographing the bass. They don't do it any justice.  Some day I'll learn to photograph this bass properly.

Well...I'm off to drool...err...play a bit now.

Troy

WOW Troy!!!! That looks awesome. I can't wait to see and hear it in person when I get back from the wild northland next week.

Get a big soft towel to wipe off the drool - I have a feeling you're going to be putting in more than a few hours playing it.

That's a wonderful Orion Troy! I love the Coco Bolo and the LEDs make this a very desirable bass to me, I'm jealous!

Enjoy,

And some free advise from a fellow amateur bass photographer with a mediocre digicam: when you photograph your bass outside on a bright and sunny day without using the flash, you'll be surprised of the quality of the pictures and especially the way the grain pops up. And there's always the Bunnybass phototips: http://www.bunnybass.com/e-zine/phototips/intro.shtml

Good luck!

Hi Wilfred,

Thanks for the photo tips.  I definitely want to make a decent attempt at actually capturing the beauty of this bass.  But, as you know, that is nearly impossible on an Alembic.  :-)

Thanks to everyone on the well wishes.  She plays like a dream.  Now if only my playing could match the quality of this bass....  :-)
