What kind of wood is that, Morgan? I've never commented about any of the other basses, but this is stunning!

Gale, it's been a while since I've looked at this one; but now that you've mentioned it, it is a very nice looking top wood.  I decided to play with the picture a little in Paint Shop; I am not very skillful with Paint Shop, but the result does give a different perspective.

(Well I've had two file locking errors, my first attempt was just over the file size restriction, and I'm trying to rush out the door to the post office.  But it's up, for what it's worth.)

Howdie All,

yes ...I was wondering too if that wasn't Clarowood. Mica said once that it is Californian Black Walnut, that can be heavyly figured with a lot of different colors in 1 piece: fro m nbear black to green, via grey to reddish.
Quite amazing this.
I have a bass -I'll post pictures later- with this kind of wood. Clarowood with a huge part of reddish tones and making gradually the transition to grey/brown.
I'll keep you all posted. Watch the threats in a coupe of weeks ok???

Regardless the wood ... she's a beauty!!!!!
What year is she? You know if you post the serial number and request it Val or Mica can get you ALL the wood specs for this beauty. It's nice to have all the info on basses you own. I've asked them to do that for my three Alembics and they have. It's also good if you ever decide to sell a bass the have all the specs. I'm sure you'll be keeping this baby in your collection for quite a while. Play her in good health!
