I live in central Mass. Years ago I watched a few friends of mine become horrified at results they got from locals. This was all the incentive I needed to learn to do set ups for myself. In the not too distant past, I had heard somebody say they were happy with the guitar tech at Union Music in Worcester although it took forever. I do not know if that tech is still there or not. Perhaps I can be of further assistance?

I was about to post a reference to Joey's post, then I realized who had asked the question!

In Newington CT, Upscale Music - is an authorized Fender Warranty Center.  Mario is the guitar technician.  I was up there 2 weeks ago and they did a very nice job on a Fender Elite Bass that required attention.   I just do not know how far that location is from central Mass.  It may be worth the travel.

Not quite in central MA, but I can wholeheartedly endorse Mouradian Guitar Co. It's worth the drive! It's where I bring all my instruments (including my Further guitar) and they're always done RIGHT.

I second Mouradian. Jim has worked on basically everyone's guitars in the greater Boston area for over 30 years. From huge rock stars to weekend warriors to bedroom strummers, he will do right by you.

+2 on the Mouradians. Jon (the son) worked on my Spoiler Exploiter & Rickenbacker 4001 about 10 years ago. I moved so haven't had to opportunity to utilize their services. One thing to be aware of, back then they had a pretty substantial wait-time, but it was worth it!

+4 on the Mouradians. When I left Boston in 1995, I was bummed to lose access to those guys. Jim did the original routing for the second pickup on my Starfire at his shop in Porter Square. Not only did he do a great job, he also made damn sure I knew what I was doing when asking him to modify a vintage instrument. He did it on budget and within time. it's well worth making the trip to the Boston area. He also did some very good fret work on my Strat.

As an aside, sometime before that I got to play one of the first Alembics I got my hands on in that same space: Andy West's old Series I that Cambridge Music had for sale.
