Yeah,
the purpleheart looks really great!
But in this case it seems that it is not the normal Exploiter body but the Spyder body
(the lower cutaway between those two are different).
BTW I like this one more than the normal Exploiter style.

Question for everyone - what electronics are in this bass?

Question for Mica - would you be prepared to disclose the value of this instrument (even if it's via e-mail and confidential of course). The reason I ask is that I'm considering something like this for my 40th birthday in 18 months time.

Cheers,

Rog,
exact the same electronics than on the Spyders:
the 20th Anniversary ones
(2 vol, 2 tone, 2 Q, P/U selector, 1 stereo/mono switch, 1 switch for the side LED?s).
Oops, you got me. Of course I don?t know if this particular one has LED\s.
As for me if I would order a new bass I would like to have an extra master vol pot on the lower horn like John had.

Take care
Oliver

Mica,Val,
does this particular one have side LED\s?
Is it long scale? It looks like medium to me...

Many thanks for your info.

More questions...

What pick-ups are the 20th Anniversary electronics then?  Same as the Signature or the same as Seris I?

What's the core wood?

Rog,
the pickups used on the 20th and also on the Spyders are no Series. Series have single coil p/u?s while those on the 20th and Spyders are humbuckers. This is also another reason why the Spyder are the closest thing you can get to an orignal JE one; but not the same.
So it still makes sense to order an original one with the single coils.
On the Spyders the core wood is walnut, but on this particular it might be also walnut but with another layer of maple between the walnut and the purpleheart.

So let?s save some money for an exact replica of John?s original basses......

Okay,
let?s get together.
I also need some.....
Maybe we go to Lloyds bank or.......
OK, at the moment I have my Spyder 8 still in the pipeline for which I still need some money.
But an exact JE Spyder.......
But there is still the Hard Rock Cafe, you know?
:-)

Take care

Maybe we should do the european Alembic meeting at the HRC in Berlin?
I think they will not even notice when the JE Spyder is missing...... :-)

Is that the bass that failed at Live Aid or the one he played?

Hi Roq,

this is exact the bass that failed at Live Aid.
Do you know what happened back then?
Was it the electronics?
So is it worth to have it repaired?  :-)

I MUST HAVE IT........

I've read that it was something stupid like a flat battery!  Don't know that for sure though.
