6 string custom
« on: January 15, 2008, 02:09:05 PM »
Here is a Six string Alembic Custom being played by Malcolm Windett of the British folk rock band 'State of Undress' (www.stateofundress.com). The other basses in the photo are a Classico and partially obscured is a custom fretless Washburn electro acoustic (not in the same league as the Alembics but the sweetest acoustic I have ever played). I have been an Alembic fan since I bought an Elan, it was love at first pluck. Never been able to afford to buy new I have searched long and hard for these babies.

Nice bases Malcolm. Be sure to let us know if you're ever playing in the North or Scotland. Wish I'd known you were up here last June.

We are planning our to do gigs in the North at the end of May beginning of June. We will definitely do Newcastle and Edinburgh as we had a great time there last year. We would like to do some other dates in Scotland as our music seems to go down well there. If you know of any good folk rock venues let us know and we will try to play them.

malcolm.
About the only venue in Edinburgh that speciallises in your type of music would be Finnegans Wake on Victoria street here is the only details I can find. The gigguide website details most of the venues in scotland and has alot of contact numbers.
I left home in 1982 and don't get back much so can't really help much when it comes to gigs around Newcastle. You could try asking on bass chat as there are one or two northern bassists on there who gig regularly.

Just remembered the lot on the grassmarket would be a suitable venue.
of Harambe played there once. You could mail him via his club profile to see what he thought of the place.
