John's 1998 Rogue 5
« on: November 19, 2013, 11:19:27 AM »
Hello everybody!  Thanks to a certain online auction site, I recently bought my first Alembic bass guitar.  Despite a few nicks and scratches, she plays great and sounds wonderful.  A fellow Alembic player recommended I post a picture or two on the forum:

  Thanks, John

John,
Welcome to the camp!
Your Alembic holds many good things for you - enjoy.

If we ever get another Chicago Gathering to come together you will need to bring your 'girl'.

Welcome to the club John. That's certainly a beautiful instrument. In my opinion the Rogue bodyshape is one of Alembic's prettiest. I liked it so much I ordered one for my first custom although it was my second Alembic.

John,

Thanks for letting me take your new bass for a spin.  Great sounding bass.

Enjoy it in good health.

Thank you all for the kind welcome!

Pauldo: Sounds good.  I saw some pictures from the previous Alembic gathering at Bag End.  Looked like a good time.  Before she leaves the house too much, though, I really need to look into getting a hard shell case... she only came with a gig bag.

Jacko: I'm really digging the Rogue body shape.  On a strap, it feels about the same as my Jazz bass (or, at least much lighter than my Thumb bass).  I'm guessing that's mostly due to the balance.  By the way, your custom in that link is quite stunning!

Kevin: Anytime!  Perhaps one of these days I'll stop by and try my bass through your rig.  I'd love to hear it through the 18!

I picked up some supplies these past couple days... a set of Alembic bass strings, the Alembic instrument polish, Flitz metal polish and some lemon oil.  My Rogue is going to get a bit of pampering.

Thanks,
John
