Charles sold me this Rogue a few months back-

I'm not sure how often he'll check here. If you're looking for an answer on the Eden question, click on his profile and shoot him off an email- or post it in his FTC thread perhaps....

This one has found it's way back home- it spent the last 3 months in a shipping container headed from NZ to Southern California.

Pulled it out of the case and it was in tune and ready to roll. I love this bass!

I've eaten my fair share of Carne Asada since returning. =)

The signature setup + quick tone changes are very very cool. I hardly use the quick tone changes, but I'm glad they're there when I do need them.

With the additional switches,how much more low end fatness can you get out of the bass p/u with the filter rolled as low as you can? I know their cut boost switches but is it just adding more volume or does it affect the tone as well. I have several A's with signature electronics and I have played on way too many standard Rogues and a few Distillates so I know what they will do separately. Do you feel the benefits outweigh the cost? Is there a synergy or additive effect fattening the lows in boost position? Does it make the lows sound darker? Thanks in advance for the info.

To be honest, I've never really paid any attention to what you're asking about. I'll plug in when I get home this afternoon and have a good listen and report back.

EDIT: After having a listen (through headphones only)- I'd say it doesn't change any of the inherent tone...just boosts the tone that is already present. This took me a while... with the filter dialed all the way down on the neck pickup, the bass sounds so thick anyway- when I hit that +bass switch, it sure sounded thicker and bassier, but I can't say the tone was changed.

Another guy who could certainly give you lots of feedback on this would be Mark (8StringKing). He is a huge proponent of the quick change switches and bass/treble controls.

I bought the Hitachi one down in NZ- haven't picked up a step down transformer for the charger, so it gave me an excuse to get the other one.... =)

Those are both 15's- funny how the camera makes the bottom one seem smaller. To answer your question- I love 'em. I'm not much for describing tone, but they're very warm and musical to me. Same with the Ashdown head- I played a whole lot of heads and could have spent more money, but I ended up really liking the Ashdown MAG sound (kinda old school thumpy). I think the amp and cabs are a very nice match for the Alembic tone.

How do you like the large Phil Jones cabinets? I like the Briefcase tone but haven't heard the larger cabs. What are you using to drive those 24-5 Piranha's?

Over the years, I've used a number of different JBL loaded custom cabinets (8's, 10's, 12's, 15's, and 18's), a SWR 2x10 + 2x10 + 1x18 system run bi-amped in stereo, and now these PJB cabs. There is NO comparison! The cone area of these cabinets is the equivalent of a 2x10 plus 4x10, but with the drive/control capacity of 24 drivers. WAY better control of the low end with incredible mid and high end clarity - the perfect compliment for my new Alembic!

I'm using a Crest Audio LT 1000 bridged to drive them (6ohm load). Plenty of power for the church where I usually play.

Thanks for the feedback on those bad boys...
I have enjoyed what just two of the PJB 5 speakers can do so I could only imagine what the larger cabs have to offer.

Absolutely totally stunningly mind-blowingly jaw-droppingly eye-wateringly BEAUTIFUL!!!

I've been in love with Rogue shape sice the first time I saw it. Probably my favourite Alembic. Congrats!!!

I'm envious... a bit :-P
