section. My apologies, but I haven't yet put up anything on Elan electronics. But they are essentially the same as
Spoiler electronics except that the Elan has a pan control instead of a pickup selector switch. And yes, while some Elans have AXY's, others have combinations of P & J pickups.
2. You can send the bass to Alembic and have them install a brass sustain block. I believe it is the case that usually this procedure does not require a refinish, but check with Alembic to make sure. I'm pretty sure Alembic could upgrade the electronics to Europa; it would depend on whether there is enough room in the control cavity.
3. While not a current model, you could still probably order a new Elan if you want. I believe the Elan has the classic neck taper (my memory may be faltering here), while the Europa has the comfort taper.
4. I don't follow prices too closely but I don't think I would be too far off to say that Elans go for between 1,500 and 1,900US, while Europas closer to 2,500. There are a number of prior threads about insurance. You might be able to find something helpful if you run a search of this forum on the word insurance.
