I've been looking for a pre-amp like that for a while myself.  Nice find!

FYI - The LED started at serial number 145.

So any ideas on what years relate to what serial numbers?  If they started shipping in '69, would #105 be in '69?  I need to see whats on the pots inside I guess....

From what I understand, I have one of the first ones.  It was made in a batch of 10 or so.  It was an F2 before they made the stereo model, the F2B.  Mine has the serial number of 102, was all hand made and hand labeled with transfer decals. The thing isn't even rack mountable.

Is it possible that the first run started with a serial number of 100?  Then the F2B had their own set of serial numbers?  Dunno.  Lot of foggy history there.  I would think that first batch of F2's would be the ones from '69.  Just guessing of course.

Interesting!  Do you have some pix you can post of your F2?

I called Alembic yesterday on this, and they just said that instruments had one set of serial numbers (guitars/basses) and electronics/rackmounts (F2B, etc) had a different set. If that is the case, our units are 3 units apart, but sounds like very different builds...

Looks like they started the F2B later?  Check this close up on the circuit board..  October '72 by chance?

There's pics of my F2 on this site somewhere.  I did a search, but couldn't find it.

I'm gonna open mine now to see if there is a date in it on the board someplace.
