I was at the Jazz Festival there in 1979. Great music; we camped out right by the river that runs through town; spent time in the bars there on the main street. And yes, the vibe there was unusual to say the least.

Nick, as we know, spent some time in Santa Rosa and sent me some more pics. Here they are!

Gorgeous !!
I love the glow from the swirl on the bass side.
....can't wait to see her with strings and in your hands Edwin.
Nick looks very happy ...I bet it's hard to stop smiling during visits to Alembic .

I love the swirly grain in the wood. It reminds me of De Sterrennacht .
The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. Beautiful !

I think the wood will be very nicely swirly once the back plates get put back on. I love the pattern where the knob holes are cut, so it will be nice to see that grain pattern uninterrupted.
I also like the purple Dyson!

I hope so. It's still a few back in the queue for electronic calibration. I'm hoping some new pics with hardware will show up soon. I've got a bunch of gigs coming up where it would be really fun to play this one!

Ohhhh, baby. Looking good! I have some video for you with 1180. I will send it to you this week Edwin. Thanks again for such a beautiful Bass. If you ever want to part with this one....... LOL just kidding! Are you going to drive to Santa Rosa to pick it up?

Nice one Edwin!
+1 on the knob/switch arrangement.
There's something about having the top horns clear of clutter that really appeals to me.
The wood pattern is absolutely beautiful.
I am working toward my own Series 1 shorty.
This has inspired me to work harder.
Congratulations

If an older local Series I or II Shorty shows up around here I have been thinking the same.

I wish I could make it out there to pick it up, but my summer is flying by way too quickly. Instead of the west coast, I'm heading to Cape Cod for some family time. I should be back right when the bass reaches my door!
