The Superb Walnut '89 S2
« on: May 23, 2007, 06:41:58 PM »
Before I could leave late in the morning Tuesday to run my errands a noisy brown truck pulls up bearing gifts. I knew it was coming today I just did'nt know when, and certainly not this early. I was in a rush to get my things done.....but they could wait a little longer. Lugged the BIG BOX downstairs and proceded to unpack this beast. This beautiful bass was strung with flats(I'm a round wound guy) and I was interested to try them out on an Alembic. It of course sounded very good, but these were'nt my cup of tea..at least on a bass like this. Fast forward a few hours. Slapped some stainless baby's on there lit up the L.E.D's and the bass truly came to life. To me flats just don't do these basses justice. I can really hear what the filters are doing and with those flats it was very diminished. Well enough yapping here it is

Most beautimous!

I like the Jazz flats on my Persuader, I have D'Adario Chrome flat's on my Precision always was a flat's or half round guy. I do plan to try rounds the next string change just because.

Enjoy!

That is some fantastic walnut, and it looks like there's some flame in the neck, too.  Totally sweet!

Hi Wattman!
Nice Series II you've got there.
Bro,I noticed in SII models that there is another input jack besides  the usual input jack.Could you tell me whats that for?
Thank you very much.
Regards
Robert

Robert,

It's a 5 pin XLR for hooking up the instrument to the power supply/output module. Series instruments run at a higher voltage, hence the power supply. This also has separate outputs for the pickups (if you only use the 'bass' output, it carries both combined).
