I just happened to be taking a glance at a Mr. Bungle tune (Goodbye Sober Day)on Youtube, when I noticed that their bass player was using an Alembic. Sure enough, I quick glance at the wiki for the band reveals Trevor Dunn with Alembic in hand. In case anyone is interested here is a link to the video:

The headstock is indeed interesting. The bass was ordered without inlays as well.
Kevin, that happens to me a lot, running a search for something that I had no recollection of, only to find that I had posted to a previous thread on the subject.
