Edwin; I dug out my copy of Midnight Riders and gleaned the following from a quick scan.

Apparently, some time in late 1980 or early 1981, not too long after the band had been reformed after a long break up and the demise of Capricorn, Jaimoe was fired in a dispute over financial matters and replaced with David Frankie Toler.  However, this period didn't last very long and was followed by an even longer breakup in the mid '80s.

I just got the Skydog book. Only a couple of dozen pages in, but it looks pretty cool. Some really great early Allman Bros (and I mean just the brothers themselves!) pictures.

Hey, this guy is from Cincinnati. That is my neck of the woods. He actually lived in the Over the Rine district. Rough territory now.

Wow, here it is in 2011 and I just saw this thread. Thank you all for the kind words on the alembic playing and tone. The rig was huge and powerful and the bass is just a wonderful instrument.

Hi David; welcome to the board!  Like so many others, I hold the Allman Brothers Band in very high regard for their contributions to and influence upon our musical heritage.  Thank you for being there, for your contribution to the music, and for helping to keep the momentum of that tradition going.

Oh, and great bass!
