That guy is amazing, and the S1 sounds fantastic!
Last time I saw the Bros. was in Macon GA at The Grand Opera House (a 1000 seat theater), from the 4th row. My wife at the time worked at a restaurant with Judy Petty, the wife of Joe Dan Petty. Joe Dan was a long-time member of the ABB road crew, and he died in a plane crash on August 8th, 2000. The Brothers came down and played what basically amounted to his wake the next day. Oteil was with them at that point in time, and I have to say that it was one of the top 3 most amazing and moving musical experiences I have ever had.
Every Christmas, a group puts on a version of The Nutcracker at this venue. During one point in that show, they dump thousands of rose petals out onto the stage. Well, during In Loving Memory of Elizaeth Reed, one of these rose petals, which had apparently been sitting up in the grid for at least 8 months, through dozens of shows, chose this moment to abandon it's perch and make it's way towards the stage. This little rose petal fluttered back and forth in it's descent for what semed like an eternity, and it did not go unnoticed by the crowd. I don't know if you've ever been in a situation where a thousand people choked up at the same time, but let me assure you, it was palpable. It was as if we all felt Joe Dan was saying thank you, and goodbye.
I had seen the Brothers a few times before, and have heard all their released material, and I can honestly say that I have never heard them, or any other band, play like they played that afternoon.
Sorry for the digression, but seeing this video triggered the memory, and I had to share it.
