My 1975 Model MSG
« on: January 17, 2013, 02:21:22 PM »
Hi to ALL ! This is my first attempt at sending a story so please be gentile. I have had my Msg for many years and it has not been played or seen daylight till recently.
I still have the little phamphlet that came in the case and I even still have the key to the case as well.
Now to my question. IF and I say this with great reservation, what would my guitar be worth and how would I go about getting a reasonable estimate to its current value ?  I have tried to call the factory on several occasions but have only received voicemail messages and even after leaving 3 or 4 messages, I have never heard from anyone.
I also Sent an email to Service, to inquire about having it Freshened Up' at the factory.
Again NO results. Could someone PLEASE tell me how I might be able to get some answers. I'd be really greatful. Thanks so much...

Welcome to the board, Ed.  A good start would be to post some pictures - lots of pictures (we like pictures).

Welcome to the forum Mike!
Like Peter suggested, pics go a long way in assessing early Alembics. 75 is a great year for Alembic, as they stepped up instrument production significantly, every one is still unique as far as wood recipes and body shapes go. Every once in a while one will show up with custom inlays, electronics, or brass, hence blowing everyone's mind all over again, so yeah.... Pics please!!!!!

Also, I'm curious what scale length the MSG is... I have a 75 SSG which is 24.75, and I'm pretty sure the LSG is 25.5....

I had a few photos uploaded in a post and as soon as I hit the preview/post message button they displayed once and then disappeared. What did I do wrong ? Maybe I should not have started a new thread ?

you can try uploading them again, the size has to be under 150 kb, sometimes there are hiccups and stuff doesn't show up.
or you can email them to me or one of the moderators and one of us will be happy to resize them and get them posted for you. my email is in my profile.

There is a 1974 series guitar on EBay right now and I would see what it sells for. I would guess your is worth over 3K and under 4,500, but that is just my guess. The medium scale may be more interesting to someone. The guitars seem to be worth less than the series I bass.
