Sorry to ask this but,

Recently bought an F-2B preamp and it came with a two sheet print out, the first is a basic instruction sheet and the second is a circuit diagram, is there a more comprehensive manual ?

Hi,
Just recently receieved my F-2B and I am in the process of converting it to European 240v.

Sorry to have to request the info and please excuse my ignorance as an Alembic newbie.

The basic setting I will adjust whilst playing different styles and figure out what sound good to my ears, althogh I know everything is going to sound good.

The help I would like is regarding the stereo feature of the bass and the amp.

My bass is a Scorpion with the Anniversary electronics, so how would I connect it in stereo, I am assuming that I plug into the bass with a stereo cable and stereo jack plug so that each pick up will have its own output, so how would I connect this to the F-2B ? is it then with the stereo cable split into two mono jack plugs and plugged into each of the seperate channels on the F-2B, or is it plugged into the top and bottom of 1 channel on the F-2B ?

Again sorry to ask, was hoping that there might have ben a more comprehensive manual avilable to hide my ignorance.

The jack in the bass is a TRS. You would use a TRS and take it to two TS connectors. I would use a 2 conductor cable with shield. The wiring would be bass side tip (T) to the tip of on TS connector and ring (R) to the other TS tip using the conductors. The sleeve (S) would go to the sleeve of each TS connector using the shield. Also make sure the stereo/mono switch is in stereo.

You should also be able to purchase a TRS to TRS cable and a TRS to TS Y adapter. I prefer all soldered connections so made my own as described above.

Thanks Keith I am looking at buying a couple of these Planet Waves leads, if anyone has any bad experineces with them can you please let me know. Also, would appreciate how to connect into the F-2B and do a basic setup. Thanks Andy

I've only had problems with the leads that have the compression springs on them like the first set you show. I found they kept pushing themselves out of the jack socket on my Alembic bass as I was playing until the sound disappeared. I stick with plain shaft jacks now.

The most important thing to know is that flat is 2-10-2 (bass 2, mid 10, treble 2). So you can boost bass and treble, mid you can only cut.

Going mono, I usually set the bass to 4 or 5, mid 5 or 6, and treble anywhere from 1-5, depending on the sound I'm going for.

Going stereo, are you going to go to two separate amps, or use the F-2B to combine the signals?

Either cable should work electrically speaking. I have never used either one so can't vouch for their reliability.

An addition to Harry's update. The controls are also interactive, if I recall correctly. This means adjusting one will have an effect on the others.

I am planning on using the stereo output from the bass and then feeding into the seperate channels on the F-2B, one channel per pickup, and then use the mono output from the F-2B into my existing bass combo which is currently a Marshall MB150.
