Scott...beautiful piece. Could you enlighten some of us as to the meaning of the Tibetan knot? Not it's personal significance to you (unless you want to share) but, rather, its historical significance.

I'd love to hear Scott's comments, too. And I'd love to see closeups of the fretboard inlays!

The Tibetan knot is a Buddhist symbol, along with these others - I am guessing the fingerboard inlays are Auspicious Symbols.

Google reveals:

denotes respect; gives protection from all evil and the heat of evil desires

I have personally become very interested in Buddhism and its style of meditation and so this custom really gives me ideas.

Scott's fretboard inlays are banjo inlays. Similar to what Jerry Garcia had on Wolf, Tiger and Rosebud.
