It's hard to tell before the finish goes on, but it's a nice piece of Flame Maple on the top. A closeup might help a touch:

From here it looks like an extra thick piece of Flame Maple.

Good day, all. Just checking in on the status of this instrument. A few months ago, Susan had estimated that the work we discussed on the neck/headstock would be done around late February

Yes, plus a small Maple veneer between the Purpleheart accent laminate and the Mahogany body. The flame figure on this bass is extremely dimensional.

I too noticed the different head on it. Nice looking bass. I like the PH lam.
