John,

I'll let Mica give a more definitive answer, but when I asked the same question, the answer was:

You don't.

They use a polymerized oil finish, and it does not require maintenance.

Bradley, you may very well be correct but I understood Susan to say the straight oil finish without the gloss coat requires more maintenance...

You don't have to re oil the finish, but you can buff it occasionally.

Your has a polymerized oil finish, then buffed with wax. It should not be cleaned with guitar polish or furniture polish. To clean it and buff it up, a new layer of way should be applied.

We recommend:
http://www.woodfinishsupply.com/RenWax.html
(the small 65mL tin should be fine for you)

Apply with a clean paper towel - we use Bounty or Viva (some brands are too rough) - or clean soft cotton cloth (like an old t-shirt).

Spread the wax out thin over the whole surface of the bass except the fingerboard. Try to keep the wax off the fingerboard so it doesn't get your strings dirty.

Let the wax dry 5-15 minutes, then buff with a separate clean paper towel or soft cloth. To do a really careful job, you can remove the strings and
knobs since these are a little difficult to buff around.

Hope this helps. Write or call if you have any other questions

John; I've started this thread as a place for you to ask Mica your question about strings.

Mica, Thanks for the updated pictures and I did get my dimmers hooked up on the Stanley..LOOKS GREAT!! The bass looks fantastic but I have a question..Are the side dots silver they look white and they don't look centered between the frets. Is that where you are putting the side dots now?

The side dots on fretless basses are placed near to where you place your finger, adjacent to the sideline. The dots are sterling silver on your bass. Glad the dimmer worked out ok on your Stanley bass.

Dave started this thread indicating you had a question about the strings. Was that ever resolved?

Hi John,  Here's those two pictures I told you about on the phone a little while ago:

I'm pretty sure I took some other photos earlier on in construction. When I run across them, I'll add the pics to this thread. I'll also make sure to get some more nice photos along the way for you.
