Scarlet's neck is taking form:

This is what will be behind the peghead veneers:

I'll say.  Your inner seven laminates are the same as those on my custom 6-String in progress!

You've got great taste, Flax!!!

Actually, this one will be replacing Scooter which will be for sale shortly. Seems that there was a communication error as the neck width on Scooter, and it's the normal comfort taper, rather than Jeff's custom narrow taper.

I always look on the bright side. Since Jeff likes the sound of Coco Bolo better, Scarlet should be a better match to his tastes, and some other lucky dog will get to own the Scooter bass.

mine was first mark-lol
dear friends,
I've been wanting to let people know why i never posted photos of scooter. But i decided this was between alembic and me and when the time was right mica would let you know
This is why alembic is alembic and another reason why i love these people

there was an unfortunate oops on the work order
twas an honest mistake. i knew as soon as i opened the case that there was something wrong and val felt terrible about it.i tried to play it and its just too big for me wittle hands and fingas

Every bit of this was handled professionally and amicably. yes i was disappointed, who wouldn't be? There was no reason to bark at anyone. This was an honest mistake. There was never any discussion about reworking the neck etc. mica called me and just said we will make you another
scooter was put back in its case and was returned 3 weeks ago to the mothership.
IT'S AN AWESOME LOOKING and sounding bass. words cannot describe the burl maple top woods. The controls gives it a lot of flexibility. it seems to have less smile with a wonderful unique smooth sound with TI flats on it
so if you thinkin about buying it- you should

so i felt we should let both scooters rest in peace and named the new one scarlet which was almost the name of direwolf.
there was only one way in my eyes to match the beauty so
i will tip my hand

scarlet tribute bass
quilted coco bolo top wood- the billet looks much like stanley's anniversary cotm
regular coco bolo back
qcb/maple lam/purple pin/maple pin/mahog/mp/pp/ml/cb
skylark carving on the front with a modified tummy carve on the back
same controls as scooter with a treble boost added
red led's with amber on the 5th 12th 17th and 24th
i play a lot in A
quilted coco knobs from THG(courtesy of alembic)
silver alembic logo
volute
peghead veneers to match top woods
scarlet on th 24th fret in mop or gmop.

stay tuned.. this is gonna be a beauty....

i will just have to suffer with direwolf.. lol
its better to have an alembic while waiting for the next alembic.
nice threesome this will be
direwolf- my classico- and scarlet

SOMEONE IN THIS SITE NEEDS TO GIVE SCOOTER A GOOD HOME.........

THANK YOU ALEMBIC.

Wow, what a story. I don't think I'll ever hear about something like this again. What a great company to do business with. People that actually care. It's kind of like finding a great mechanic, and you'll drive clear across town to get his service despite the guy right around the corner. I'll get to order mine one day and I look forward to every detail of the transaction.

yet another JF build to look forward to. Can't wait to see the finished result. Quilted cocobolo sure looks amazing. You're definitely going to beat me on this build as it'll be another year before I can place my order;-)

Bill,

That's not funny.

Maybe we should start a pool: whether Flax gets his third bass before either of us receives our instrument?

thats a very nice neck!  the kind of neck that makes a gorgeous stinger, cause all the bright colour in the middle run right through the tip of the point!!  think about it while its early!  what body type are you thinking of?

Hi Jeff,

Can I start by applauding you for showing such class in the way you informed us of the Scooter incident. In a world where many seem to vent, big time,at the slightest prompting, your post is a true example of what it is to be civil, and of why this club is what it is.What a Gent!!.Huge respect to Mica and all at Alembic for their customer committment.Heart warming.

Belated congrats on the Classico too. We're with ya for the long haul as always,as you 'suffer with Direwolf'.Oh imagine the pain!! ;o)

Here's hoping the 'Holy Trinity' will be complete before too long and that Scarlet will be all you wish for.

Best Wishes,

Simon.
