My HAMMER OF THE GODS
« on: May 15, 2013, 03:42:44 PM »

After I added the D2x10XST8 and after I acquired an F-1X this rig was ok but it still was lacking.I was still pushing it really hard for some of the band work I do so after some research under the Alembic Google search I rewired the whole thing and have a line coming out of the F-1X full range and going into the Superfilter A channel line input, flipped the switch to stereo, and have it coming out of B channel line out going to the Crown.
What a HUGE difference as in I have more total control of the Superfilter and I only can get to 3 on the F-1X before it's just too loud for me at least but it is still clean, articulate and full undistorted bottom end.

Ok.After I thought I figured out posting pics here's the rest....
No kidding.Everybody who hears this rig now, after re-wiring is just blown away.Especially non-Alembic players.I run an open stage jam and get to hear a wide variety of basses through this rig.I think I've created a lot of GAS in a few bass players around here.

And the D2x10XST8 placed underneath the D4x10XLT8.
Maybe I'll get the hang of posting pics on here one of these day's.

Nice piece of kit there. I've used Eden quite a bit at the rehearsal room and they have a good sound. Just wondering though, is there a reason, soundwise for which cabs go on top of a rig? I've always put my 2x10 at the top of the rig when using more than one cab. Though i'm sure Ive read on the forum somewhere about getting a better sound by putting a 2x10 on its narrow side I haven't tried that on a gig yet but do it at home. (Takes up less floor space... :-> )

Hey Jazzy,
Sure. The reason being is that Eden makes two different styles of 2x10 cabs, the XST and XLT.The XST puts out a stronger more well rounded low end handles 500 watts shelf ported on the bottom end of the cab and that's why it sits on the bottom. The XLT is ported both top and bottom and handles 350 watts.More suited to match its 700 watt 4x10 XLT brother and really doesn't
matter weather it's on top or bottom. So it's really just a low end frequency thing.
At some point in time I will match the 2x10 up with an Eden D4x10 XST which will a handle a monster 1000 watts.

Oh yeah, one important thing I forgot to mention about the re-wiring.I did have the SF-2 running through the effects loop of the F-1X mainly because it seemed to be the thing to do.Now that it's not in the fx loop,to me,it's just a lot better.More powerful sounding and more control over SF-2 settings.

Ah, nothing like a fine-tuned rig! I bet it sounds amazing! I've been shooting for simple and light myself, but I can dream of having a setup like yours - my dream would have to include a roadie though! ;)

JV,
A lot of folks use the D210XST as a sub to replace a single 15 or 18 cabinet as it is rated down to 30hz. The D410XLT is rated to 50hz and the D210XLT is rated to 48hz so the XST fills the sub bill quite well. To get the best coupling with the 4X10 you would want the 2X10 on it's wide side.

Dave, I recently replaced my Eden N410RS with a D410XST & it sounds incredible! It has a nice warm Jimmy Johnson tone which I love! I also had my full amp in a 6 space rack like you, but it weighed 85 pounds & it killed me everytime I lifted it on & off my speaker stack (I also have an Eden D115XLT on bottom), so I recently split it into two 3 space racks & it is SO much easier to handle! I put my power conditioner, tuner, & SF-2 in one rack & my Eden WT800 & digital clock in the other rack & that allows me to use the tuner & SF-2 with my small combo amp as well when I don't want to bring my big rig.

I've always used Eden Cabs in the past. Had an XLT 4x10 for five years I think. Still haven't played any cabs that sound better.

Another vote for Eden Cabs. I play a 410XLT and if necessary together with a 210XLT (or only this at smaller venues) for 15 years over my WT800 amp. I'm happy with the sound!

Yup Rusty.God help me but I'm getting ready to do it again. Before the year is out I will have in my possession a D4x10XST.OUCH.My lower back just had a little spasm at the thought of it all just to remind me.The rest of me though can barely stand the wait(not weight)for it's arrival.Oh and also I switched my old tired crappy barely would keep the lids on SKB rack for a practically brand new almost unused 8 unit Gator rack.My friend only wanted $35. for it.Couldn't pass that up.

I went old school from an Eden Navigator/QSC/fEARful 15/6/1 to a '67 Showman and Sunn 200S with D140s. Sounds great!
