Yes, I understand that 14593 is some kind of serial number, but does it stand for something special, like the 14593:rd Signature Standard Bass that You are making or something like that? That the cavity is for the upper pickup I also understand, but is the serial number in some way tied to the pickup? If that's the case the other cavity should have a number as well.

About flying basses! This one has some more flying to do when it's ready, right?

Erik,
Mica corrected me on the serial number. While close to the current range that is not what it is. Mica says the number is the work order number. There is nothing significant with it's location far as I know. The bass I'm having built has information written in the same location.

As far as serial numbers go. Once one is assigned it represents the number of your instrument since the first Alembic was built. Her is a link to the serial number description.

OK, as I understand it, my bass will have the serialnumber 09SJ14593.

No. 14593 is the work order. your serial number will be whatever the next number since the first Alembic is.
as an example, if you check down my rogue build thread, you'll see the number in the pup cavity is 13909. When the instrument was finished it was allocated  05Q13403.

There is no way of anticipating the serial number until the instrument is finished.

I went to the local musicstore here in Gavle three days ago, the 24:th of July, to fetch the bass I've ordered from You. It is the most beautiful bass I ever seen. To play it is an almost undescribeable experience, a feeling of some kind of micrometric perfection. And then, the sound. Thank you very much.

I have two questions. I am trying to figure out the logo. A hand stretching down from a cloud holding a dart-board with a destilling-retort in front of it. And then there is an A in the retort. Is that right and how come?

The second question is about the name of Your instruments and Your company. Why Alembic and what does it aim at?

Thank you again, Erik

Erik,

Here's the Story of the logo.

After you've finished reading (and another hour or two of being unable to stop playing that marvellous new Alembic) could you take some pictures and post them in the Showcase section?

Please don't show me any picture...

That's like pouring salt on a wound for me...

I already know it looks incredible and it's not mine...

I am happy for you -- I know you weathered the storm of waiting... Please show us those wonderful pictures!

Thank You Adriaan for the logo-information. The purification-process explains the name Alembic.

My working-computer has just come home from service and I haven't had time to reinstall the programs yet so You have to wait a couple of days for me sending pictures on my new bass.

Erik.
