Hi Michael, Check your email for a bunch of pricing details I sent today. Here's the unusual Honduras Rosewood I was telling you about:

I wish these pictures could show off how nice this wood looks. To my knowledge we haven't used this wood before, and we've had this particular piece for close to thirty years, though it was quite a few years old when we got it. There's only 6 bookmatches of it. This wood with a light amber tint will have that 70's look you're after.

Some updates for you.

It's hard to see many wood grain details without the finish, but I think you'll get the general idea of things.

Hey, Mica,
looking good ...looking real good!
Tell me, the hard edge line going around the body, will that remain or will it be rounded off later in developement?
Plus, don't bother side mount the jack keep it in its original place.

The bass got the sealer coats this AM and I got a picture just before Bob prepped it for the next coat:

Of course in person the wood is even more beautiful.

I can't take the smile of my face every time I look at it ...it's shaping up nicely.

Mica,

Just looking at the last photo I've noticed that there is no a indent cut for the truss rod plate. Tell me, is the plate laid on top or is it sunk in to lay flush with the body?
If it isn't sunk in could you do that for me. I think that the plate would get in the way of my attack as i'm pulling under the strings/slapping.

Dont worry, the truss rod cover is recessed - you'd have to ask for it to be otherwise. You might have trouble seeing it in the previous picture as the cover is nearly as wide as the neck and the shadow of the fingerboard is obscuring the rounded corners at the top.

Here's the bass with the amber tint:

It's next to some other straight clear finishes for reference. It looks less yellow in person, and when I compare it to a couple of restorations we're doing, it has the appearance of the aged polyurethane paint we used to use.
