Hiro's Custom Skylark "Honeycrisp"
« on: January 17, 2012, 07:03:09 PM »
Here's the op picture that you've already seen by email:

But I also spied your neck in the early stages of construction:

For the curious - this is a Maple and Walnut neck, and Honeycrisp apples are in season.

Honeycrisp apples were developed here at the University of Minnesota. They are an attempt to produce an apple that is similar to a MacIntosh but not as tart and good for both eating and baking (as well as able to withstand the cold weather that winters (other than this one) typically bring to Minnesota.

Hammer thanks for the info ! I had no idea. Yeah I vote for Honeycrisp as a name.

Mica, the finish dept should come up with some kind of cool trans honeycrisp glossy for future finishes.

I see that Honecrisp has her sealer coats and she's sanded now, ready for the next coat of finish:

I hope to get you another picture next week before it's sanded so you can see the grain.

Great! My Honeycrisp puts on her make up, and wondering what clothes to wear. I look forward to the next step.

Honeycrisp is in final cure now:

It will just be waiting around for the next couple of weeks for the finish to fully harden and get in the queue for setup. I'll keep you posted as to when something happens next.  Enjoy!
