Shinichiro's 5-string Lacewood Rogue
« on: May 29, 2012, 09:34:21 PM »
Nice things happening for your bass! We are trying hard to collect more pictures than we used to, so there's lots of interesting things going on in assembly.  First, your body halves getting glued up:

  Out of the clamps:

  Bandsawing the template shape:

  Ready for shaping:

  Shaped:

Special glow-in-the-dark material you sent us:

Gluing the side dots in place:

  They glow!

  Fingerboard glue up:

  Peghead shaping:

  Half of rough neck shaping:

Body to neck in the pipe clamps:

  Detail of glue up:

Nice looking bass. the lacewood has a very delicate look to it. I just love these workshop shots; can't wait to see it in the flesh in September ;-)

Saw your bass when we visited last week. It's beautiful and I love the glow in the dark side dots. They really jump out at you when it's really dark and in environments with more light they can still be seen. It's almost as if they have their own dimmer control.

Are those tiny chalk marks on the edge of the fretboard just above the glow in the dark side dots (cool product!!)?

I think this top is going to be amazing when the finish hits.  Look forward to seeing it and I really like the paper thin purpleheart/maple veneers just below the thicker purpleheart layer.  Looks like a fantastic PB and grape jelly sandwich!

Thank you, Mica, thank you, folks!
I'm so excited to see the further progression than my expect.

I chose lacewood and ash because of their weight but they are also aesthetically fine.
I like it.

The inlay material is lumiinlay, that is introduced by someone in this forum recently.
I have already installed them in the other bass by myself, and they're really useful.
You may buy them overseas.

As much as I've loved the progress shots you've always been so kind as to show us, these process shots are so much cooler!!!  Thanks, Mica!

Getting a rescarfed peghead to accommodate the 5-inline peghead.

I will reveal the new shape next week
