Anyone know the official name of this body shape? Planning a new bass and I prefer this to the newer Balance K. If this had been bookmatched to centre with wood truss rod and pickup covers it would be near my perfect instrument.

I think it's the original Balance Omega shape (non-K).

I wonder if it would be feasible/look right if the Balance (non-K) was cut for triple omega.

It's referred to as the Balance Point body shape.  A recently slimmed down version of the same:

Planning a new bass Graeme??
You'll end up like Rami, with 200 Alembics at least.
Thought you were going to wait for a Series bass!
Think it's time we had a pint and a chat!

Saving up george. It'll be a while with all these price increases but I'm allowed to dream ;-)
A beer sounds good but it'll have to be in the new year now.

We have done the balance point in triple Omega a couple of times. Mine was the first, you can see it here http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/1030.html?1166482774

After every amazing axe I've seen from the top to the bottom of this website, Val, THAT one is always my favorite.  Just perfectly exquisite, and I'm not much for natural finish instruments.

Although I'm sure it's my dormant Sicilian DNA in sympathetic vibration to a certain extent ...

Valentino,

Next time I come down, maybe I could convince you to bring it in?  I'd like to see one in person.

The one that I'm envisioning would have larger omegas and quilted maple.

No problem Brad, be happy to bring it to the mothership for you to try.

Thanks Joey, I love that one...my first custom.

Hmmm...

And a knobby peghead.  5-string.

Fretless maybe...

I'm wondering if this should migrate to the Dreaming... for now section.  Don't tell my wife.
