I was wondering if Alembic can do a custom Epic bass with wood supplied by me.  You see, I bought some really nice flame and quilted maple bookmatched pieces of wood(3/4 inch thick)because I was planning on making my own bass.  However, I have not had the time to make my own bass because I am to busy playing bass and work.  So, I have this really nice wood that is just sitting in my closet.  I bought the wood from Lutier's Mercantile in Healdsberg, CA so it is instrument quality wood and I hate seeing it just sit there.  Anyways, the reason I pose this question to Alembic is because I recently bought my very first Alembic Epic(used), and love it.  I am also near by to Alembic.  Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

Oh sure! We've made lots of instruments from personal wood stashes. One of our favorite stories is a customer that we made the top and back from the Magnolia tree he used to climb as a kid. The wood wasn't exotic looking, but it's hard to beat that kind of sentimental value.

I'm sure the wood you got from LMI will be suitable for just about any project here. For most bodies we need 7 x 22 on each bookmatched side. We usually use 1/4 tops, but we can certainly make a thicker top if you like.

Usually there's a $200 discount off the retail price for supplying your own bookmatches. We don't offer the discount if you supply lumber.

Thanks for the prompt info.  I checked my bookmatches and they are not as long as you said you need.  They are close to 20 long.  So, I was wondering if you have any body styles that use smaller pieces or if the epic body can be shortened by an inch or so.  Also, my bookmatches came from LMI already laminated together so I don't know if that will ba a problem.

Also,  I was wondering about my recently bought Epic Serial #93W8036.  I believe I registered it a few days ago.  Did you get my registration, and if so I was wondering what info you could give me about my bass? Especially what woods its made of?  I am having a hard time figuring it out.  I hope the pictures make it alright.
Thanks.
