Howdy folks. Just went to Alembic the other day and have been converted. I sat for like an hour playing a Skylark, a Further and an Exploiter. Tone heaven. I never knew guitars could sound like that, and I've been playing for 16 years! Susan, Richard and Tony were filling me with so much knowledge that it was unreal that these guitars could even be made. Anyway, we talked and settled on a Skylark in a Further body. Possibly with led's. Any thoughts?

Welcome William,

well it feels good to have someone praise Alembic from the other league ( the plain-guitar part of the world).
We usually divide the world in bass-players and non-bass-players.

Thanks. I thought I'd found the tone of my dreams until I played these guitars. The active pups are just so ALIVE! And with just a turn of the filter knob yields so many results. It's just too hard to not embrace the sound.

Hey Mica, on this Further, after playing your Susan's guitar yesterday I was thinking if a Walnut back could make it have some of the clearer definition that her's had. I LOVE the Exploiter/Skylark sound but I liked the clarity in Susan's Walnut guitar, with a 5A quilted maple top in a Further body. You know what I'm saying. Possible? Sounding good? A clash?

It was nice to see you again yesterday, Will. I think that would be a great combination. We're loving the Maple/Walnut body combo on the Spyder basses, they simply explode with sound and definition.

I'd also go one step further and add that Vermilion accent laminate lik eon my mom's guitar. This should make sure the Maple top doesn't get overbearing.

That red rose guitar is a sweet one. Everyone that's had a chance to play it loves it.

I'll be back again to try out your mom's guitar and the Exploiter again on my next visit. I also wanted to try out the preamps also. My wife won't let me get away without a 5A maple top on it. But I would like a good chunk of Walnut on there (for sound of course). I was going to comment on the laminates but I didn't know what it was. What tone does Vermilion have by the way?

Vermilion is the accent laminate on my mom's guitar. The Vermilion Walnut combo gives that nice defined sound, and I think the addition of a Quilted Maple top will give it a bit more brightness and a shimmery decay.

It seems the combination will incorporate the aspects of sound you liked from both guitars.
