i was just dreaming today and was wondering, has Alembic ever thought about making a piezo bass bridge? would it be possible?

haha, do you happen to know why?

even if they couldn't make a bridge, would they be able to make a blend control to blend their pickups and electronics with a different brands piezo?

here'sBill's upgraded Fernandes with Alembic guts and a piezo.
There's a blend control in it.

From what I remember of the conversation, I believe they felt that they just didn't sound good enough - or at least they weren't thrilled with the piezo sound. I guess they'd do it for you, if that's what you wanted.

I have never found a piezo that I liked on an electric bass. What model would you try?

hmm looks very nice. honestly, i've never dealt with a piezo(never bought a bass that had one) but i've been thinking about getting one to see the sound and was thinking about if Alembic could make one. i have no idea what model i would try, can you tell me what you have tried so i can avoid it, thanks.

Taylor, I've owned several Yamaha TRB 6 Strings, which have piezo bridges. They're cool, and seem to give you a bit more tone than a typical active electronics package. Of course, the TRBs that I had were neck thru, with a 5 piece maple/mahogany neck and a flame maple top. I don't recall if the body core was maple or some other wood because it's been probably 10 years since I've owned them, but they're the older, neck thru models that you can find on ebay for a pretty reasonable price. They are a great bass, but nothing really compares to Alembics- especially the Series basses.

Thanks for the info Frank, i'm just extremely curious to blend a piezo with my Alembic project(at mothership making sure electronics work), but the only thing i can think about is how would i wire the extra pickup and blend control, something to look into later on

Maybe its just me, but Piezo bridges boost my string replacements costs... (because I am always breaking strings with them).

To this day, I had never broken a string(s) on my 76 S1 shorty, and therefore, I would never put a Piezo on (if I can help it...).

The hexpander with the bass and piezo bridge would yield something like Squarepusher's bass IMO.

Trick is that you need an effects loop w/ blend like Ezra had done...then you can send the synth signal into the bass and mix it with the P'up signal that's not effected.
