LED's

I'll be starting a new Alembic project soon and one of the things I know I want for sure are side LED's. I have a short scale Alembic that was built for me many years ago with red LED's, but for this project I'm thinking earthy green. The wood colors will be something like Phil's Godfather, and I'm pretty sure it will have gold hardware... hopefully the green with diffusers (and a dimmer knob) will look nice and fitting. I'm curious if anyone has experience with the green LED's. I want an organic type of look, but not glaring. Any thoughts?

My custom will have green LED's.  I don't have it yet, but hopefully by Christmas!!

I prefer red LEDs because they don't have any effect on night vision.

No experience with green.
 
I have red only on the Spyder and red and amber (12th/24th) on the Stanley Clarke.
 
The red is pretty potent, the amber a little more subdued. I like the red/amber combination on the SC, it makes low-light neck navigation easy.
 
You might want to consider a combination of colors.
 
As long as we're asking about other colors for LED's, I'd like to know if anyone has tried purple - ?

I wanted purple at the 12th and 24th fret on my in-progress custom, but was told I couldn't have them because the voltages were different (green & purple), so I got amber at the 12th and 24th instead.

Am I missing something here, wouldn't it be simpler to find a supplier that uses white LED's but in different coloured casings.
That way you wouldn't have technical issues regarding the provision of different voltages for different types of coloured LED's just one voltage and access to a variety of different coloured casings.

As far as I know (not much, really) the white LED is more expensive and the color is determined by the semiconductor element in it.
