I've been without an Alembic for a couple years now- owned a Rogue previously (http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/25827.html?1341369299) that I sold to fund the custom build of this lovely Elan (http://club.alembic.com/Images/631/52764.html?1227396051).  I sold that bass to fund medical treatment of a close friend- that was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I'm getting the itch for the next one.  I'm not in any position to fund it currently, but I'm thinking I should be good in about 12 months if things stay on track here.

I'd love to build another Elan with signature electronics (no PJ this time).  I'd probably ask for a slab body, but would take advice from Susan/Mica on a laminate top if they suggested. Maple and purpleheart neck combination, Elan peghed, 32 scale and..... an opaque paint job. Either tangerine orange or daphne blue.  Toss in some cream colored pickups, a maple fretboard and a matching headstock.

It's just a dream, but the last one came to fruition... hopefully this one does too.

Speaking from recent experience - the maple fingerboard will be an interesting experience unto itself.

There are some finish considerations that can potentially impact the finish options for the entire neck - Susan or Mica will be able to explain the details better than I could.

In my case, it was resolved flawlessly on Royale, but you'll need to be aware of your options and the potential compromises that you might have to make.

For me, it just had to be bird's eye maple for this project and the result is breathtaking and more than worth all of the extra effort required to get it just exactly perfect.

good point on the maple-  and it was a great choice on yours.  It is a stunner.

The more I consider it, I'm convinced it  will have to be tangerine orange with the cream pickups and maple board.  Who doesn't like a good Creamsicle??!
