Love that tailpiece. The cream-white pickups are an aesthetic win too. So much in fact, that I'm apt to question if they ever thought about conjuring some cream-white witch-hat knobs?

If I am not mistaken what we have been calling " Witch Hat Knobs " were actually originally RAYTHEON equipment knobs . I do not know where Alembic currently sources these ,but it would be interesting and remarkable if they would be available in colour choices :)

<snickering>

"Transfer Station" in Roanoke is uhhh... that's where all the trash goes to be sorted before going to either recycle station or landfill.

Nah, Rob can't possibly mean that, Ed...  ::)

Man, go get that thing!   ;D

Hey Rob... hope they transferred your bass to the proper address and you are happily plunking away.  Just give the neighbors some newly legalized NJ weed and tell them to kick back and enjoy the show!

Right on, Stephen, I’ll provide gummy bear snacks and soothing low frequencies!  :)

Adjusting the volume trim pots, pickup height, and amp settings, I’m getting to the sound I like. This will be a great bass for jam band collaborations.   Hmmm, wonder what happens when I plug it into this SF-2...      :)

Here is a link to an online folder with clips of what it sounds like. The recording (iPhone) and my playing are both primitive, but kind of gives you an idea of what it sounds like, but it will sound differently depending on how a person chooses to set the controls, EQ it and other things (amp, cab, etc.). All are finger style except the one marked "Other". Can anyone suggest the best way to record clips for posting? Thanks!

I especially like the sound of the file named Goodbye... whatever your settings are there. Nice. The picked track Other is a cool sound too.

Bass sounds great Rob, thanks for posting the clips. Are you playing through an amp and recording the sound from the cabinet?  Can definitely hear the hollow body characteristics of the Starfire and the clarity of the Alembic pickups and electronics is unmistakable.

Thanks guys.  The settings were actually the same for all of the tunes. Maybe finger pressure and mic placement had something to do with it sounding a little different.

I plugged the bass into an F-2B, QSC-GX7, and an Accugroove Wedgie.  I didn’t use my Big Baby 2 because I thought the smooth lows in that cab would be too much for my neighbors below.  I just recorded it with an iPhone, and you can hear a lot of noise in the background.  Just quick little clips to test it out.  I am really liking this bass, and everyone in Santa Rosa did a great job, as usual!  :)
