Hey just bought this bass!!  Finally an Alembic owner!!  I was trying to place a birthdate an my bass.  However....I noticed that the Epic were produced from 94 on.  My serial number is 93.  What gives?  And if this is pure ignorance.....my apologies!!  Now I must get back to playing my new baby!!!
Thanks....SLUGGO!

Congrats and welcome!  Epics were first built in '93.

Thanks Dave!
I was going by the serial number finder on Alembics page.  Now... I realize that an Epic is just barely in the Alembic club....but hey...a guy's gotta start somewhere!  The kwan shall be a decked out Spyder sometime before I die!!!

Yeah, but you gotta find just the right song on the radio as you drive your Spyder home.

Ah yes, we're a cheery lot here at the Alembic club. Cheery ... and violent!

Doug.
First off, welcome to the club and second, don't be ashamed of owning an epic - Alembic put just as much love and attention into your epic as they did someone elses series II. Besides, owning an epic you're in very good company;-)

Graeme,
The only place I am humbled by being an Epic owner is on this forum.  You would not believe the jaws that have dropped at this bass!!  I am primarily a hard rock player.  Nobody, around here at least, uses Alembic for rock....but as soon as I plug in...the clarity and warmth of sound....simply cannot be touched.  I mean....Entwistle had to know something... right????  Thanks for the kind words of encouragement.

Hey Doug.
There are a few rock bassists out there using Alembics. Flea used an Epic for almost all of the One Hot Minute album and Jason Newsted (ex metallica) used at least 6 Alembics on stage at one time or another.
And you're right - Entwhistle did know something ;-)

Hi Doug,

My access to the records room is obstructed, but will be clearing up by the 5th of July. Until then, I can take an educated guess that your bass has a Walnut top, Maple accent, and Mahogany body. It also looks like it is in very nice shape. From the photo, the only signs of wear are the neck pickup decoration, the volume knob and the slight shining of the finish.
