Yikes.  I have just received this bass.  Your folks were very much on their game.  What can you tell me about it?

Hi David,
 
Here's what I can tell you - there's not a lot of detail in the early records:
 
top and back: teack
body core: Oak
neck: Walnut (see my note below)
scale: 34 long
originally made for: LD Heater, OR
birthday: June 4, 1974
 
The preamp card was exchanged for a rebuilt one in 1992.  
 
I made a note in the file that this bass was for sale at Bass Northwest January 8, 2002. I also made a note about the neck. It looked like the outside pair of woods was Walnut, but there are 2 lighter stripes that are probably either Maple or Beech. The center laminate looked darker, I thought it might be Vermilion, Purpleheart or Walnut, but I really couldn't tell!
