Hi gang! I can't find the sheet of paper I had with the serial # on it, but I did give it to Valentino months ago when I asked for an estimate of replacement cost/value -for Heritage Insurance.

If you need me to, I'll open it up again and get it, if the # has been lost.

This is just a reminder/request that it is very important that I get that, so that I can make sure the instrument is properly insured in the event of loss/damage/destruction. (Gasp)

Part of the long wait might be due (besides the fact that you're very busy!) to some of the elaborate & unique features.

I was recently quoted $1425 for the 31 fret fingerboard, and $2500 for the integrated body/neck halves. I got the impression that flame maple would increase it more.

Other than these special wood/physical features, the only other non-standard thing is the custom electronics, which were pricey then, and would undoubtedly be more now.

Anyway, I'm hoping y'all can get this to me sometime soon, 'cause I got my 6-month renewal notice, and am about to renew, and it would be best to adjust the rates at the beginning of the 6 month period (if it were necessary).

By the way, when the 6-string is completed, I'd really appreciate a written replacement quote for that as well -also for insurance purposes.

Folks, I know you're busy, but I asked to get a replacement quote for insurance purposes back in April last year, and it's been about 9 months now.

It's extremely important that I have this unique and VERY expensive bass properly insured. The only thing that would be more heart-breaking than having something bad happen to it would be if I couldn't afford to have it replaced in such an instance, even though I have insurance... simply because I didn't have it insured for the right amount -which I can only do with your help.

I've since found the paper with my info on it again... the serial # is 98C11353.

I've been told several times now that Val or Susan or Mica would get back to me with this information, and it hasn't happened yet.

I know Alembic is busy, but since I requested this information many months ago and still haven't got it, I would appreciate it if it were given priority over more recent requests.

I know working up a replacement quote for this bass requires more than the standard procedures due to some of the unique features, and I don't want to be a pain, but this is very important.

A written quote is ideal for insurance purposes, but I'd at least like to get a specific dollar figure as a minimum, so I know that it is insured for the proper amount.

Thanks for adding the serial number to the request, it will be very helpful in preparing the documentation. Isn't the serial number on your bass somewhere? It's almost always found in the large electronics cavity on the ledge if you need to find it again.

Yes ma'am, the serial # is in the main cavity. I just hate opening it up. It must be laziness, 'cause it's not really that hard, only takes about 2-3 minutes total.

I didn't have it handy when I posted the request here, but since I'd already given it to Val, I didn't worry about it; but since I came across it written down, it seemed logical to post it.

Hi Mica! As of today -Tuesday, February 27th- I still haven't got the replacement quote.

Usually stuff from California gets here in about 2-3 business days. So I'd like to confirm that it shipped out Tuesday, as planned, and that it was to the Tropicana address. I'll leave this here to get your attention, and then email you the full address privately for confirmation.

Thanks Mica, something must have happened to it -but I appreciate your sending it out (before -and again).

I checked and did sent the email successfully -at least according to the electronic records at my end- and I save a copy for myself.

I wanted to give you a few dollars for shipping, but figured you wouldn't take it... so I'd like you to hold off until you hear from me -I'm going to order a shirt and some polish for the finish, and that way you can piggyback the replacement quote into that package.

I called in today, but it was too late/after close.

Just so you know -in case you missed it 'cause of this- my email address uses my middle name and abbreviated last name charlieshep. (charlieshep@cox.net).

One other (different) thing, in case I forget to mention it. This is my girlfriend's computer -her name is Erica Deutsch. I got a strange email with info from Beaver and Susan directed at her regarding MY (current in-production) 6-string...

There was an offer to still honor the 2006 quote, and it seemed clear that (for whatever reason, probably something to do with the fact that I sent out my specs/quote request from HER computer) that he was thinking it was a separate order for another person. But the detailed spec's are clearly for my bass.

I'll endeavor to contact him to clear it up, but I wanted to let you (and Susan) know -in case I space. The quote for Erica Deutsch is for my bass.

It's really nice that Susan offered to honor the 2006 price if the quote had been overlooked!!!

Fortunately, I've already put down the deposit -and almost paid it off!!!

I can't explain it, Mark, but I searched my deleted items, and everything I've received since the 27th, and can't find a message with the return email you cited above.

If you ring on Monday, you can leave a message with Jason. I'm hard to reach on Mondays by phone, as that is when I concentrate on my bookkeeping duties.

I'm sure a quick email to Beaver to clear up the confusion about the order is all it will take to resolve that matter.

Hi Mica! I just got off the phone with Jason and placed an order for the nice extra-wide Alembic Strap, an extra-large Black Alembic polo shirt, and a bottle of Alembic polish to cover shipping, and as a thank-you! (But I'll definitely be able to use all these things! I need some polish, and I'll be needing a new strap when my 6-string comes. I'll probably actually use the wide Alembic strap for my 8-string, and use the old strap for my 6-string).

I didn't think to ask Jason, and I don't wanna call up again to pester him about it, but, if you don't mind, and if it's no trouble, please add insurance and put it on the credit card -just in case the order gets lost.

If for any reason you're too busy to get it out right away, please wait until you can ship it out all at once (the 3 goodies and the replacement quote). Hey, what should I use to wipe it with? An old cotton shirt? If you sell a recommended cloth or something, you can just add that to the order.

Thanks Mica! I'm real excited to hear Bob has a specific Coco Bolo board for me, and look forward to seeing it! I'm curious to see if he'll elect to do the front and back with the same wood/board(s) or have different board(s) for the front and back. (I stated earlier that I would leave this decision to Alembics' discretion.)

P.S. This may be a stupid question, but if I wanted to get a mug with my COTM Europa on it, could I still do that... or is that option only available around the time one's instrument is the featured custom? And -if it's still an option- how much is a mug?

I've reprinted the Replacement Value Statement for Jason to enclose in your parcel. We always add the insurance to any order that isn't covered by the included insurance of $100.

An old blank T, well-washed cloth diaper, or chamois work marvelous. There are microfiber cloths, lens cloths, specialy guitar cloths, flannel cloths, and these all work fine. What you want is a material that has absorbency. Some guitar cleaning cloths don't absorb the polish at all, an dyou wind up wiping and wiping and wiping until it evaporates.

We offer a ploishing chamois if you like that idea.

Jason told me he had the order all packed up just before he left today, so it should be shipping tomorrow bu UPS, you should see it in 2-3 days.

We've added the surprise color chamois ot your box, and I've confirmed the Replacement Value Statement is in there too. You should see this by Friday.
