Hello all, This is my first Alembic,serial number: 83S2629 it was kinda beat up, but the price was right.I plan on restoring it back to its original state as soon as I can. I bought it on Ebay, the seller says it was a 1983, but I wanted to make sure. Its going to need some electronic work,and replacing the knobs switches with the originals,in addition to some finish work,and wood repair. I'm new to Alembic,so any info on what this bass should have to make it new would be great.I thought it was really cool that Alembic gave historys on their instruments.I can't wait to get this bass back into tip top shape,almost as much as I want to play it!

Based on the serial number you posted, that's an '83, and the body appears to be solid Koa, a now-endangered Hawaian wood that's beautiful and toneful. Both of my Alembics have Koa tops and backs.
If you can show us what's going on inside the control cavity, we should be able to give you some idea how much of a task restoration will be.

I figured it was Koa,but it was so plain looking I also thought it might be a light mahogany. Without seeing it in person it was kind of a toss up for me to tell.Though now that I think about it the headstock over & underlays are highly flamed Koa,so it would make sense that the body would match.
Once I get the bass in my hands I'll post some pictures of the control cavity.

The previous owner didn't mention anything about the condition of this bass, but the history details were posted here.

neck: Maple with Koa peghead veneers, 32 scale
fingerboard: not recorded, but likely Ebony
inlays: not recorded, but likely pearloid
pickups: AXY
controls: volume, filter, 2-position Q switch, 4-position rotary pickup selector switch
originally made for: Pied Piper, WV
birthday: April 26, 1983

The original owner purchased the bass on June 15, 1983 and was in Louisiana.
