Welcome aboard!

The W indicates that you have an Epic.  Do you actually have it in your hands yet or is it being shipped?  If you have it and can post a picture the forum could probably help you out with the major details.

There is an explanation of the control layout and there is a showcase section of other Epics here.

But it's an OW, so, while the control link is OK, the proper Showcase link would be to other .

So I've got an -97 Orion then and when Mica sees this, she will post excact what my bass is made of here?(1)
2. And the controls: The controls on Epics, Excels and Orions are Volume, Pan, Bass and Treble. The pickups are MXY
-what is PAN?
-And are MXY good stuff?

3. And upgrades/treatment that i schould do - excet for lemonoil on the fingerboard? Perhapes some oil on the body?
4. Is there enough shielding in the bass(saw no copperfoil in the pots-cave, but some paint...!)

-This is probably wrong posted! Sorry...

Ole,
Congratulations on the new bass. I own two Orions. A 5 string fretted and custom 4 string fretless.

I suggest you read the FAQ and must read sections
as there are many things there that will tell you about your new bass and how to get the best from it. To answer your questions from above:

2.
The Pan controls how much signal comes from each pickup. When in the center detent position both pickups send an equal signal to the preamp. The control explanation can be found here.

All of the non-Series pickups are very good. They are a hum canceling style pickup. The MXY and AXY are the same except for size. The Fat Boy is optimized to be more bassy.

3.
I would not perform any upgrades right away. I would wait until you have had a chance to use the bass more. If you do decide you want to upgrade you could move to Essence electronics with a Q-switch.

You should not need to oil the body. As I recall the body is polyurethane made to look like an oil finish. All you should need to do is clean it with a good quality guitar polish.

4.
Alembic does not use foil to shield the body cavity. Instead they use conductive paint. When applied properly this gives a more complete coverage than foil.

Regards, Keith

Congrats on the new bass Ole and welcome to the club.
I agree with Keith, play the bass some more before you think about upgrades. You may be surprised how well you like the bass just the way it is.

It's good to see another Ole on the forum, I spell my name a little different, Olie, but believe it's pronounced the same, OH-LEE (Rhymes with Holy.)

OO
(PS. I bet most of you cats where saying my name Ah-lee)
